Gwithian Beach

We are currently on holiday at my sisters place in Cornwall until next weekend. Not bad considering its December.

Wind lashing the waves into white horses on Gwithian beach, rain squalls coming and going from the Atlantic Ocean, then went to Hayle, then Penzance and then Marazion by St Michaels Mount.

Tomorrow, Monday, after we have fed the goats, ponies, chickens and dog we are heading out to near Penzance to a friends house for lunch in some pastie emporium!! Local pasties are something else!

The pasties which we travelled all the way to Penzance for, were not to die for, but were very nice all the same.

Tuesday dawned, er, I think. Somewhere above the cloud, (well, we are actually IN the cloud) is, I have been reliably informed, the sun! The morning started off wet, windy and cold. It became warmer and the wind died away, only to be replaced by that drizzly rain that soaks right through you.

Bit of fun with the ponies this morning, Sue was looking after the goats and I volunteered to get the ponies to paddock. Got the bridles on the wrong pony and, whilst trying to swap them, the female decided to do one ………

Chased her for a half hour in and out of the winding paths and trees and eventually just waited at the field gate for her to come back, as her other half was calling her. Swapped bridles and let them out.

Wife & daughter buggered off to Penzance to shop, and I stayed put. Sat on here all day reading things online. Came time to get animals back and soft arse here decided to muck out the stable!

Took an hour! Everything is locked up and sleeping now, and I am going to have a beer!

Wednesday, dry warmer and some sun saw us take a trip into Truro and have a look at the Victorian Market, the flea market, the Cathedral and local food!! Park & Ride service here is superb and only cost £1. M&S was crap. Long queues and only two tills operating when I was in there, my wife gave up and left. Back to work and getting the animals bedded down with no problems and three more eggs into the fridge!!

Thursday saw my wife and daughter got to St Ives and on Friday they went to Eden Project, worth a trip if you have not seen it already. Its now Saturday and we return home tomorrow but today, mucking out ponies and seeing to new pasture for chickens and feeding the ever hungry goats. Sun is shining, wind has dropped, a beautiful December day in Cornwall.
